JOB DESCRIPTION
The Human Resources Generalist Intern will gain broad, hands-on exposure to core Human Resources functions while supporting day-to-day People Operations activities. Through structured learning, job shadowing, mentoring, and supervised project work, this internship provides foundational experience across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding and offboarding, HR communications, employee engagement, HR administration, documentation, compliance, and People Operations. This is an unpaid educational internship designed for students and recent graduates interested in exploring a general career in Human Resources. The internship emphasizes learning and professional development through guided experience, mentorship, and exposure to industry best practices. Eligible students may receive academic credit through their educational institution, where applicable. Designed as a structured learning experience, interns receive mentoring, coaching, job shadowing opportunities, regular feedback, and supervised project assignments that build practical Human Resources knowledge and professional skills. Throughout the internship, participants complement the work of Human Resources professionals while developing competencies across the employee lifecycle. Interns do not replace the work of regular employees.

THIS POSITION WILL ENTAIL:

What You’ll Learn & Support

Employee Lifecycle

  • Shadow onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding documentation and welcome materials.
  • Learn how employee records are maintained.
  • Support HR documentation updates.

HR Communications & Employee Engagement

  • Assist with internal HR communications.
  • Assist with people-related external communications.
  • Draft recognition announcements and engagement communications.
  • Support company events and team-building activities.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities.

HR Administration

  • Organize HR files and templates.
  • Support policy and procedure documentation.
  • Assist with HR checklists and process maps.
  • Conduct HR research and benchmarking.

HR Projects

  • Support special HR initiatives.
  • Research HR trends and best practices.
  • Assist with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development.
  • Participate in cross-functional HR projects.
  • Learn how HR technology, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools support modern Human Resources operations and employee experiences.

Cross-Training Experience

As part of Digital Factory's Human Resources Internship Program, interns have opportunities to collaborate across People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and People Analytics through job shadowing, cross-functional projects, and shared learning experiences.

This cross-functional approach provides interns with a comprehensive understanding of the employee lifecycle while building foundational knowledge across core Human Resources disciplines. In addition to developing specialized expertise within their primary internship track, interns gain broader exposure to strategic HR practices, helping them build a well-rounded foundation for future careers in Human Resources.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous campus leadership, volunteer, internship, or project experience.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources, People Operations, Employee Relations, Human Resources Business Partnership, or Human Resources Generalist functions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Commitment & Dates

  • Up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule
  • Duration: 6–9 months, with the potential for extension based on learning goals and project needs.

Compensation & Internship Status

  • This is an unpaid educational internship intended to provide structured learning, professional development, and practical experience.
  • Participants should not expect wages or other compensation for participation in this educational internship.
  • Eligible students may receive academic credit through their educational institution, where applicable.
  • Upon successful completion of the internship, participants will receive a Certificate of Internship Completion recognizing their participation and learning achievements.
  • Completion of the internship does not guarantee future employment with Digital Factory Technologies.
